Raphael Club Black Sox 2023 Team Preview
3/6/2023by Black Sox Manager Julian Abate

This week's featured team is the Raphael Black Sox managed by Julian Abate.

The 2023 Black Sox come into this season with high expectations. After a mediocre start to the 2022 season, the Black Sox turned up the heat and ended the season winning 6 of their last 7, sweeping the first round of playoffs after sneaking in as the 6th seed. While making a Semi-Finals appearance and playing two highly competitive games against the talented Grizzlies, the Black Sox got a taste what they know they are capable of. The Black Sox bring back almost all of their starting players from last season, and anticipate being a real contender in the upcoming 2023 season.

The Black Sox return all pitchers from last season, led by All-Stars Mike Lacasse and Cole Hapgood. Following them in the rotation are trusted arms in veteran Tim Grenier, and utility man Chris Lekkas.

The Black Sox also return a talented lineup with a lot of pop throughout the batting order. With the ability to drive the ball throughout the batting order, these Black Sox are in shape to score runs against any team in the league. Leading the charge for the Black Sox is the always dangerous Jaken Pellerin, surrounded by veteran bats in Zach Lemire and Mike Lacasse.

The welcomed surprises of All Star Harry Garofano and last year's rookies in William Duarte and Tyler Maniello ensure the Sox have the ability to drive the ball at any point in the lineup. Combining that power with the consistent bats in Kasey May and Mike Barry, there are high expectations for a Black Sox team that anticipates another playoff appearance, with the ability to do damage in August again this year.
