A Tale of Two Games
A walk-off left the Redbirds on the wrong end of a 7-6 defeat to the Black Sox. The game was tied going into the bottom of the ninth inning when lack Sox hitter Cole Hapgood delivered the game-winning single.
This game was two totally different games with the first five innings being a pitching duel between the Birds’ Kyle Parmley and Sox rookie Kevin Lee. The second half of game saw the offenses open up.
Parmley pitched six and two-thirds, allowing three unearned runs and striking out eight. Meanwhile Lee delivered five strong innings, allowing one run on five hits. Both pitchers would not factor into the decision.
Despite the loss, the Redbirds collected 13 hits with Cameron Conway, Cody Bassett, Chris Gauss and Heath Norris having multi-hit games. Gauss delivered a solo shot in the top of the eighth inning.

Pellerin earned the win in relief despite being shaky through his four innings of relief work.
