The 2024 Rockies will look to bounce back with a similar roster after a disappointing loss in the 2023 Championship following a terrific season.
The 2024 Season sees the retirement of Jeff “Playoff Jeff” Selesnick. He was the longest tenured Rockies player and manned the Shortstop position for many years. Kevin Towne is also retiring this season. For several years, Kevin caught games for the Rockies, always building his teammates up and calming his pitchers down.
The Nashua Rockies lineup boasts three previous Offensive Player of the Year award winners. The middle of the order will be anchored by Korey LeLievre (2022 OPY) and Andrew Thibault (2023 OPY). Roy Sanchez, Kyle Slate and Chad Seaver look to build on their first-year campaigns that earned them All-Star game honors. Landon Henzley, also in his second season, looks to continue his hot hitting after having a mammoth postseason for the Rockies. Ryan Slate, Dakota Williams and Matt Thibault will return for their second season to round out the lineup.
Newcomers to the Rockies this year include Matt Gagne, Sam Martin, Ryan Lopez and Luis Sanchez. The mix of veterans and new players looks like they can improve on the previous year!
The Rockies have improved their pitching staff for the 2024 season. Old veterans, Ryan Smith and Kyle Boucher, both are returning to anchor the top of the rotation. Ryan and Kyle both finished in the top 5 for pitcher of the year. JP Somers will return for his second season in the rotation. Korey LeLievre will make his triumphant return to the bump after a few years off from pitching to come in and close games for the Rockies. With new eligibility rules comes multiple players who will bridge the gap between the starters and Korey. Matt Thibault, Roy Sanchez and Matt Gagne will all come out of the bullpen to shut the door on opposing teams.
With the added depth to the lineup and the pitching staff the 2024 Nashua Rockies once again have expectations of making a deep playoff run!
